Sleeping Bear Sand Dunes is located in the lower peninsula of Michigan West of Traverse City, on the shoreline of Lake Michigan.

The park has a road that forms a loop starting with this covered bridge.
This is the lake Michigan side of the sand dunes. It’s difficult to gauge the scale of the dunes. I took a picture of two girls walking along the beach and the next photo is what you can see from eye level. They look like two dots in the distance. The dunes are 450 feet tall.
This is the backside (or East side) of the dunes. There is a parking lot where you can park and then walk up the sand.
