Rocky Mountain Canyon is a small trail that ends at a waterfall. Bring your water shoes or sandals because you’ll need them to complete the hike.
There is also a split-off that goes down a picturesque portion of the Bonneville Shoreline Trail. There is a small parking lot and some parking on the street. The trail starts from there:
There are some stairs that go up to a residential road:
Follow the road until you come to a sign that points you to the left. Then there is a small (you could easily miss it) sign that shows the start of the trail:
There is a split where you can go up the switch-backs of the Bonneville Shoreline Trail. Those pictures are further down. These pictures follow the trail to the waterfall:
You can see the last image has the waterfall in the background. We did not bring our water shoes, so we didn’t continue up the flooded trail (which is pictured in the second from the last shot).
From the split off, we traveled down where a bridge crosses the river:
Then the trail continues up through several switch-backs:
Then the trail travels into the mountain some:
Eventually, the trail continues past a water collection station and turns into a 4-wheel-drive roadway. We turned around at that point because that’s where the scenic part of this trail ends. We’re familiar with the Bonneville Shoreline Trail that is South of here (down by Orson Smith Park) and it’s not very attractive.
