We decided to go hiking near Vikingsholm, which is at the South side of Lake Tahoe. The parking lot was, shall we say, tight. We waited for someone to pull out and took their spot. Then we bought parking until dusk. That lot was close enough to the Eagle Falls trailhead that we could just leave the car there.
The parking lot is at the top, where you can see the lower falls.
Then you walk down the gravel road to the Vikingholm, visitor center (where you buy tickets for the tour) and the trail to the lower falls.
The trail to the lower falls is easy.
There is a large platform at the top of the stone steps that gives an excellent view of the falls. The climb up is tough, especially if you’re not used to the altitude (around 6,000 feet).
