This is an easy trail that is out and back. The trail starts at Grand View Point. Right after the tourist signs and railings, there is a staircase of rock that leads down onto a wide ledge. This is the beginning of the trail and ends at a point where you can climb up a rock scramble to get a 360-degree view of the canyons.
As you can see in the above pictures, there is a stone staircase that descends to a wide ledge. If you walk to the edge and look down it’s about a 1,000-foot drop. Those lines down there are roads and you’re looking down at the maze.
The sequence above is the trail that leads to the end. It’s mostly a rock scramble with no real climbing (except a few steps). In the last photo in the sequence, you can see the end of the trial and the rock that people are standing on to see a complete panorama of the canyon.
You can sit close to the edge and dangle your feet off the cliff, or just get close and look down like what Michelle is doing.
We met someone on the trail that was nice enough to take a great picture of us together.
The above photos are from our climb onto the boulders at the point. There were a lot of people climbing up to get a great view. I’m used to taking photos in crowded location, so don’t get the impression that you’ll have this trail all to yourself. With that said, it was well worth the easy hike it took to get these photos, and much better than the sanctioned lookout.
