Orson Smith Park is a nice park with plenty of parking and a dog walk area:
The initial trail is heavily traveled and wide:
Eventually, you’ll arrive at a cross-road where the bridge loop trail starts. If you continue up, you’ll end up on Bonneville Shoreline Trail.
Keep following the main trail (Bonneville Shoreline Trail, or B.S.T.) until you hit the bridge:
You can continue across the bridge and around back down the lower trail, or you can go to the right to a small trail that goes around the back of the canyon.
On to Bear Canyon Loop:
We saw a rattlesnake, but it was in the dark brush. So, be aware.
There is a tiny bridge that crosses the river. If you’re not up to a thin trail on the edge of death, you might want to go back from here. We continued on:
Fortunately, it comes out at this rock outcropping that is a nice place to sit.
Eventually, you’ll come out on the trail on the other side of the bridge:
As you can see from the last pictures, we descended to the large trail below that one (Aqueduct Trail).
