The checkerboard mesa area of Zion National Park is located on the East side of the park after crossing through the tunnel.

There is a very twisty road that leads up to the tunnel (not pictured). This road has plenty of pull-offs, except near the tunnel entrance. The tunnel pictured below is a smaller tunnel that comes after.
